Submission to Department of Health New Home Care Scheme

Posted on: November 15th, 2017 by Louise Lennon

With an ageing population and increasing desire by people to remain in their own home and community as they age, there is a need for more services and supports for services to facilitate this. Keeping people in their own home as they age is also the preferred option of Government as it reduces the cost to the exchequer. Services like Meals on Wheels are a vital service to older people and play a vital role in assisting people to remain in their home. It has an important role to play in the development of a Home Care Scheme. Other auxiliary services also need close examination and proper development of these services is needed to support an overall Home Care Scheme.
