W ith farm deaths having increased dramatically in the first weeks of 2010 Irish Rural Link, a member of the Farm Safety Partnership Advisory Committee, has committed itself to vigorously promote safety in rural areas and more particularly on Irish farms.
Irish Rural Link urges rural dwellers to heighten their awareness of farm safety in all aspects of daily life. Particularly in the month of March, which has claimed a lot of lives in previous years, extra vigilance is required. The pain and suffering encountered by families who have experienced a farm related death or serious injury is unimaginable. Sadly many of the accidents were avoidable and with a little bit of common sense and a heightened awareness of safety lives can be saved. You too can reduce the chance of problems occurring with careful attention to health and safety. Doing so can help you significantly reduce the personal, social and financial costs of accidents. Irish Rural Link encourages all those working and visiting Irish farms to visit the Health and Safety Authority website or www.farmsafely.com for comprehensive advice and information on farm safety. Do your small bit to make rural Ireland a safer place to live and work in.
Three Farm Fatality Prevention Seminars are planned nationwide over the next few weeks. A brochure with full details of the events can be obtained here |
