Challenges to Rural Wellbeing - Valuing Community in the Battle against Poverty and Social Exclusion

Irish Rural Link’s Annual Conference & AGM 2010 is taking place on May 13th and 14th in Killala, eu10Co. Mayo.

Combining field trips, presentations, debate and conversation the Conference will outline the latest research on building the wellbeing of rural Ireland while highlighting the possibilities for innovative local action to combat disadvantage.

2010 has been designated as the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. In association with the Office of Social Inclusion, IRL are seeking to explore how rural communities can best tackle these challenges in their own areas. Thursday 13th May 2010
12pm Registration & Light Lunch  - Killala Community Centre, Killala, Co. Mayo

1pm Welcome and introduction to  Killala Community Council  and tour of centre. Bus will then depart for tour of Local production units - Women of the North West Project - Enniscoe Heritage Centre - Ceide Fields

5.00pm Return to Killala  - Tea & Coffee

5.15pm Break

6.00pm IRL AGM Killala Community  Centre

8.00pm Dinner - Guest Speaker: Mr. Noel Brett  (CEO Road Safety Authority). The National Rural Awards will be presented at the gala conference dinner, details on the awards are available here . This year's awards are sponsored by Career Decisions .
