Concern for the proposed closure of Rural Garda Stations
September 21st 2011 Irish Rural Link – the national network representing the interest of rural communities – has expressed concern about comments made by Minister for Justice Alan Shatter T.D. that, proposals to close rural Garda stations are under consideration.Stating that the proposal was part of the overall EU-IMF agreement Minister Shatter made it clear that this is part of an overall plan to reduce Garda numbers to 13,000 by 2014.

Minister Rabbitte welcomes RBS progress |

With just over two weeks to still apply for broadband under the Rural Broadband Scheme, Minister Pat Rabbitt anounces that his department have received over 2000 applications to date.
Minister Rabbitt acknowledged the input of Irish Rural Link with promotion of the scheme and urged all those still without broadband to apply before the Friday 29th deadline. Further details and application can be accessed at www.dcenr.gov.ie/rbs or by telephoning 1850 678100.

Last Chance for Rural Broadband |

Irish Rur al Link has warned that the time for making
applications under the Rural Broadband Scheme will come to an end on 29th
July next.
The scheme applies to households and premises which are outside of
the regions covered by the earlier National Broadband Scheme.
